Notice: On June 29th, a tornado swept
through Governor Dodge State Park. The park sustained considerable damage in
both the northern areas and southern areas of the park. There is considerable
tree debris scattered throughout the park.

THESE AREAS CLOSED TO ALL USE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE:

  • Pine Cliff Trail
  • Lakeview Trail
  • Mill Creek Trail
  • The Military Ridge Access Trail
  • The southern portion of the Outer Horse Trail Loop from the intersection of
Old Orchard Pass to the intersection of Goldmine Trail

THESE AREAS ARE OPEN:

  • All campgrounds
  • Swimming areas at Cox Hollow and Twin Valley Lakes
  • Boat landings at Cox Hollow and Twin Valley Lakes
  • Kiwanis Concession Stand
  • Picnic and shelter areas
  • The northern portion of the Outer Horse Loop
  • The interior Horse segments (Old Orchard and Woodland Pass)
  • Lost Canyon Trail
  • Uplands Trail

There are months of clean up work ahead. While many areas of the park must
remain closed for safety reasons and the majority of the storm debris has yet to
be removed, the park is still open.

Crews have worked as diligently as possible to get all campsites in a
condition that ensures they are usable so that no one would be without a
campsite for the holiday weekend.

We appreciate your understanding as we work through this storm clean up.
Please contact the park office for specific open/closed area information. Thank
you.
